Seven Things I've learned in Therapy

Seven things I've learned in therapy

1.You don't have to analyze or solve every thought that pops into your head.

2.It's worth considering whether you're actually 'too self- aware' or if you're intellectualizing as a defence mechanism to avoid feeling & gototherapy processing your feelings.

3.Sometimes you are not reacting to what is actually happening, but to a past experience that the pigototherapy current event reminds you of.

It's important to be mindful of this when interacting with others.

4.You can give yourself the closure you need.

5.It's not your job to 'fix' or 'parent' other adults.

It's not fair for you & it's not helpful for them.

6.Safe relationships allow you to communicate your concerns and needs without having to anticipate retaliation or punishment.

7.How we repair & reconnect after conflict or miscommunication is what builds emotional security and safety.

Safety is not about avoiding conflict at all costs, it's about how we act during and after conflict that matters.
